PMC Regional Hospital was a 51,272-square-foot surgical hospital located in New Albany, Indiana, originally constructed in 2008 and expanded in 2017. The facility operated eight surgical suites, 300 free surface parking spaces, and a full clinical infrastructure designed to deliver high-acuity surgical care to the southern Indiana and Louisville metropolitan region. The investment was successfully exited in 2022.
PMC Regional Hospital is the founding investment behind Apta Investment Group. Vasu Kakarlapudi, MD, MBA, spearheaded the vision and investment strategy for the hospital, assembling a group of surgeons united by a common goal: delivering superior patient care through a facility they owned and operated, while creating a durable and profitable investment vehicle aligned with their professional expertise. This is the investment that proved the thesis behind everything Apta does today.
The 2017 expansion increased the facility’s capacity and operational efficiency, strengthening its competitive position in the regional healthcare market and attracting additional top-tier surgeons and specialists. By aligning the clinical and financial interests of the physician owners, the hospital achieved sustained revenue growth, improved patient outcomes, and built a reputation as one of the premier surgical destinations in the region.
The investment demonstrated that physicians who apply the same precision and discipline to their investment decisions that they bring to surgery can achieve exceptional outcomes for themselves and for the patients they serve. PMC Regional Hospital remains the clearest expression of Apta’s founding principle: practice medicine by choice, not obligation.
